A leading educational institution in the UK seeks a Senior Technician to undertake research on proteolysis activated protein function. The role involves using genetic, biochemical, and physiological approaches with Mass Spectrometry to explore N-degron pathways in plants. The ideal candidate should have a minimum qualification of HNC in a relevant field and possess laboratory skills in plant genetics and biochemistry. This part-time, fixed-term position is available from January 7, 2026, to August 31, 2026.
A Senior Technician is required to undertake research as part of a BBSRC-funded grant: "Defining a new realm of proteolysis activated protein function". The successful applicant will use genetical, biochemical and physiological approaches in combination with Mass Spectrometry to understand the biochemistry of the N-degron pathways in plants and physiological roles. The post holder will work alongside a Research Associate/Fellow as part of the project. This exciting project is a collaboration between biologists and chemists, it builds directly on our previous work identifying and characterising the molecular mechanisms of N-degron pathways in plants (eg. Till et al Plant Direct 2019, Vicente et al New Phytologist 2019, Abbas et al Nature 2022).
This fixed-term, part-time post is available from 07 Jan 2026 until 31 Aug 2026.
If you have any informal inquiries, please contact Michael Holdsworth: michael.holdsworth@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this e-mail will not be considered.
