A Senior Technician is required to undertake research as part of a BBSRC-funded grant: "Defining a new realm of proteolysis activated protein function". The successful applicant will use genetical, biochemical and physiological approaches in combination with Mass Spectrometry to understand the biochemistry of the N-degron pathways in plants and physiological roles. The post holder will work alongside a Research Associate/Fellow as part of the project. This exciting project is a collaboration between biologists and chemists, it builds directly on our previous work identifying and characterising the molecular mechanisms of N-degron pathways in plants (eg. Till et al Plant Direct 2019, Vicente et al New Phytologist 2019, Abbas et al Nature 2022).

• Undertake research as part of the grant "Defining a new realm of proteolysis activated protein function".
• Use genetical, biochemical and physiological approaches in combination with Mass Spectrometry to understand the biochemistry of N-degron pathways in plants.
• Collaborate with a Research Associate/Fellow and work within a multidisciplinary team of biologists and chemists.

• Minimum of HNC in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications with considerable work experience, or substantial work experience in a relevant role.
• Laboratory skills in plant genetics, physiology and general biochemistry, including Western blot analysis.

This fixed-term, part-time post is available from 07 Jan 2026 until 31 Aug 2026.
