A reputable veterinary healthcare provider in Dorchester is seeking a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a skilled team at a 24-hour hospital. This role requires the ability to manage emergency and critical care cases independently during night shifts. The position offers extensive professional support including CPD funding, private medical insurance, and relocation assistance. Ideal candidates should have at least four years of UK veterinary experience and previous ECC experience is a strong advantage.
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join an experienced and welcoming team at a 24‑hour hospital, recently refurbished and situated just a short drive from the breathtaking Jurassic Coast. The hospital provides a modern and supportive environment to develop your ECC skills while embracing the lifestyle benefits Dorset has to offer.
As a multi‑disciplinary hospital with a strong regional presence, we deliver out‑of‑hours care for 13 other practices. You will work alongside a talented group of clinicians, including certificate holders in diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology and emergency and critical care. Several team members pursue further surgical and medical qualifications, creating a thriving atmosphere of collaboration, professional development and continuous learning.
To support high‑quality emergency and critical care we are exceptionally well equipped: a CT scanner, digital X‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, two sterile theatres, an in‑house laboratory, an on‑site hydrotherapy unit staffed twice weekly, and a peripatetic physiotherapist. We also provide isolation facilities and separate dog and cat wards and proudly hold ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status. The night service is supported by an ECC‑certified veterinary surgeon and a skilled nursing team, ensuring continuity of care around the clock.
This position involves sole charge throughout the night. The ability to manage all aspects of emergency and critical care cases with the support of an RVN is essential, and previous ECC experience will be highly advantageous.
We look forward to welcoming a committed and enthusiastic Night Veterinary Surgeon to our Dorchester team. To learn more or apply, please contact Louise@brightleaf.co.uk or call 01422 433900.
