A machinery manufacturing firm is looking for a skilled PLC Software Engineer in Billericay, UK. You will develop and implement PLC software for bespoke automated systems across regulated industries. The ideal candidate should have proficiency in PLC programming, preferably Siemens, and strong problem-solving skills. Experience in regulated sectors like pharmaceuticals or automotive is required. The role includes collaboration with engineering teams and occasional travel for commissioning.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative, bespoke automated systems for high-profile customers across regulated industries. You'll play a key role in the full project lifecycle - taking concepts from initial specification through to commissioning and customer handover.
- Develop, test, and implement PLC software for bespoke automated machinery
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and project engineering teams
- Support machine FAT/SAT activities and on-site commissioning
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Provide technical input during design reviews and customer meetings
- PLC programming proficiency (Siemens preferred)
- Background working with pharmaceutical equipment or other regulated sectors such as food & beverage, medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or FMCG
- Experience delivering automation solutions for special purpose machinery, robotics, or complex production systems
- Strong understanding of machine safety standards and validation processes
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
- A proactive engineer with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and the ability to engage confidently with customers
- Someone who enjoys variety and the challenge of developing one-off solutions
- Willingness to travel occasionally for commissioning
