Job description

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a specialist SEND school in North Tyneside that supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), communication challenges, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The school is seeking a SEND Learning Facilitator to join their team and provide steady, compassionate support to pupils who learn and communicate differently.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants meaningful, relationship-based work and is driven by seeing pupils grow in confidence, connection and independence.

As a SEND Learning Facilitator, you’ll play a key part in helping pupils access learning in a way that suits their individual needs. You will:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SLD and associated needs
  • Support emotional regulation, communication and engagement throughout the day
  • Help pupils navigate routines, transitions and sensory experiences
  • Build trusting, consistent and predictable relationships with young people who may struggle to feel safe in school settings
  • Use creative and adaptive strategies to support learning, from visuals and sensory tools to structured activities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the pastoral team
  • Celebrate progress that may seem small, but is genuinely meaningful

Your presence will help pupils understand that school can be a safe, predictable and supportive environment.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be an expert — the school offers excellent training.
We’re interested in who you are, not just what’s on your CV.

You'll thrive in this role if you are:
  • Calm, stable and confident in supporting pupils during emotional or behavioural difficulties
  • Someone who values consistency, patience and genuine connection
  • Able to communicate clearly and adapt your approach to different needs
  • Curious about SEND and open to ongoing training
  • Reflective, resilient and comfortable working as part of a team
  • Someone who believes that children who struggle the most often need the strongest advocates

This school welcomes applicants from care, youth work, psychology, coaching and creative backgrounds, as well as those new to SEND.

Why Work With Us?
  • Supportive, well-established SEND settings committed to relational practice
  • High-quality training in communication, regulation and specialist learning approaches
  • Leadership teams that prioritise staff wellbeing and consistency
  • A collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment where your input is valued
  • Opportunities to develop long-term skills for roles in education, therapy, or pastoral care

Working in the SEND sector in North Tyneside means working in environments where positive relationships truly change lives.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
