THE ROLE

Mission Training Devices (MTD) is looking for talented software developers to join its expanding team in preparation for exciting upcoming opportunities.

We have two opportunities available, in your application please indicate which role would be your preference.

OPPORTUNITY 1

Practice areas: Software Development

Relevant experience: C# / C++(>2 years), Android / iOS / WPF / MAUI / .NET

The role will be developing software for synthetic training devices, initially mobile applications using .NET MAUI and progressing into Mixed-Reality integrations.

Whilst C# and C++ are the focus areas for this role, knowledge of Mixed Reality or Virtual Reality systems, plugins and 3D tracking systems would be considered beneficial.

OPPORTUNITY 2

Practice areas: Software Development

Relevant experience: C++/C# (>2 years), User Interface Development, Military Simulation

The role will be developing software for synthetic training devices, both stand-alone software applications and Mixed-Reality integrations.

The first project will involve mobile applications development and so it is highly desirable for applicants to have experience in, or a desire to expand into, this field. Additionally, experience or knowledge of User Interface development, ideally in a Military Simulation environment is beneficial to this project. Future projects could see the role evolving into full-stack development with training opportunities available if needed.

Experience with collaborative development tools is essential, with Azure DevOps and GitHub being highly desirable, experience of administering such platforms is considered beneficial. MTD develop software following the SCRUM development methodology, and experience working in SCRUM teams is advantageous.

Both roles are home based with infrequent travel to MoD Boscombe Down for face-to-face meetings, with travel expenses remunerated. While the exact frequency of travel is dependent on operational pressures, once a month is to be expected with at least one overnight stay locally.

THE PERSON

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals striving for self-improvement, expansion of understanding with a strong desire to work on cutting-edge concepts and new products.

A base understanding of, or willingness to learn the core principles of Physics and spatial Mathematics (geometry, vectors, matrices etc) will be strongly beneficial. MTD team members take pride in their problem-solving ability and are keen to expand this further.

We are looking for experienced professionals who can seamlessly integrate into a growing team. The ability to work with other, like-minded, professionals is essential but there will be instances where the successful candidate will need to work on smaller projects alone.

MTD prides itself on team spirit and the ability to communicate effectively will be essential. This includes both verbal and written skills from participating in regular departmental Teams meetings to code-reviews and face-to-face discussions.

A high level of professionalism is expected, and the successful candidate will need to participate in team and company activities both inside and outside of the department.

MTD are embarking on several exciting projects that require our talent to expand, and we are looking for like-minded individuals to become part of our dynamic team.
