A local authority in Wales is seeking a Youth Worker to lead community projects for young people. The role involves ensuring safety and providing supportive learning experiences, requiring a Level 3 qualification in Youth Work and experience in similar settings. Fluency in Welsh and English is essential. The position demands flexibility with working hours, including evenings and weekends.
Purpose of the Post
Ensure that the people of Gwynedd are at the heart of everything we do.
Employment: JNC for Youth and Community Workers Points 5 - 9. Annual Leave: JNC Terms - 30 days annual leave for the first five years and 35 days for subsequent years (pro-rata).
Working Hours: The working week is 3 hours per week, with evening and weekend work; flexibility may be required. Hours include evenings and weekends and some residential work. Car use: Full driving licence and use of a car; the post-holder will be designated an occasional car user. Language: The post-holder will need to be confident in both Welsh and English orally and in writing from the outset. You will be appointed to work in your catchment area, however, in special circumstances you may be required to work outside your catchment area. The post is subject to the completion of an acceptable check through the Criminal Records Bureau.
Gwynedd Council operates internally through the medium of Welsh, and offers all its services bilingually. The applicant will be required to reach the linguistic level noted as one of the essential skills in the Person Specification.
