• Maintain adequate stock of reagents and consumables, keeping accurate records and reporting to senior staff.
• Participate in continuous training, keeping up to date with developments in laboratory technique.
• Ensure rapid turnover of work and maintain a high level of throughput.
• Conduct quality control tests and meet required analytical standards.
• Validate technical results and produce reports dependent on discipline.
• Operate laboratory equipment according to standard operating procedures, paying particular attention to Health and Safety and other regulations.
• Undertake routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Use analysers and other laboratory equipment safely, efficiently and cost‑effectively.
• Communicate and explain complex and sensitive information, including results to service users such as hospital clinicians, GPs, wards and community staff.
• Lead out‑of‑hours (OOH) shifts, maintaining a quality service and meeting turnaround times (TAT).

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, holding an IBMS specialist portfolio.
• Experience working within an NHS laboratory that is UKAS accredited.
• Routine operation of complex automation solutions, utilising WLIMS.
• Validation of a wide range of biochemical tests via middleware application.
• Excellent interpersonal and time‑management skills; commitment to service excellence.
