Job summary
A technology solutions company in the UK is seeking an experienced Node.js / JavaScript Developer for a greenfield project. You will upgrade and modernise an existing system from Perl to Node.js while working remotely. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Node.js and JavaScript development and enjoys problem-solving. Occasional in-person meetings may be required in Manchester or London.
Qualifications
- Strong Node.js and JavaScript development experience.
- Experience working on greenfield or migration projects.
- Good understanding of API development and system integration.
Responsibilities
- Join a 3-month greenfield project to upgrade an existing system.
- Work alongside a small, agile team to deliver a scalable solution.
- Solve complex problems and improve legacy systems using modern technology.
Skills
Location: UK Remote (Manchester or London preferred for occasional meetings)
Rate: £400 per day (Outside IR35)
Duration: 3 months (initial)

The Role
We're looking for an experienced Node.js / JavaScript Developer to join a 3-month greenfield project, focused on upgrading and modernising an existing system from Perl to Node.js. You'll work alongside a small, agile team to architect and deliver a clean, scalable solution. This role is ideal for a hands‑on developer who enjoys solving complex problems and improving legacy systems using modern technology.
- Strong Node.js and JavaScript development experience
- Experience working on greenfield or migration projects
- Good understanding of API development and system integration
- Exposure to MongoDB (Mongo Atlas desirable)
- Comfortable working in Linux environments
- Experience with AWS or Azure
- Version control using Git
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
- Previous experience with Perl (nice to have but not essential)
- Fully remote (UK-based only)
- Occasional in-person meetings in Manchester or London may be required
- Outside IR35
