Job Title: Senior Design Engineer

Location: Filton - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £40,748+ dependant on experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Produce technical guidance documentation for In-Service Submarine Alterations and Additions, Class Modifications, and Minor Trials, ensuring adherence to all aspects of the MOD design change process KP 2.31
• Carry out investigation and review of technical design change information/proposals and feedback findings to both internal and external stakeholders
• Carry out design change Safety & Environmental Assessment documentation review for both In-Service and Build community Submarines
• Provide input to training courses to support learning from experience, drive continuous improvement and promote a positive safety and quality culture
• Conduct trend analysis of incidents, events and present the findings from completed investigations to identify themes and trends

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

• Computer Aided Design experience
• A background in Mechanical/Electrical engineering
• A minimum of HNC qualification

Desirable:

• Experienced in CAD - Preferably SolidWorks
• Experience working within the Submarine sector
• Defence related design experience

The In-Service Design Change Team:

As the Senior Engineer you will have the opportunity to not only work on but run and lead your own projects. You will be working autonomously and as part of a team, to help with making changes to the benefit of not only the whole department but overall Submarine programme. During your projects, you will also have the opportunity to visit In-Service Submarines in support of design change tasks and to develop your own skill set and experience. You will also have opportunities to develop yourself and build a lasting career with BAE Systems.
