Dealer Auction is a digital business transforming automotive remarketing. Born from a joint venture between Auto Trader and Cox Automotive we are the UKs largest online wholesale marketplace. Our core purpose is to help automotive businesses spanning Manufacturers Fleet & Leasing companies Franchise and Independent Retailers buy and sell used vehicles online faster and smarter than any other platform.

Were continually evolving our digital platform from search and data tools to logistics and transaction management we now attract over 5500 buyers and 1200 sellers transacting more than 120000 vehicles each year. As the industry moves from traditional methods to online solutions Dealer Auction is set to grow exponentially.

We are looking for a Java Developer to help us in our goal to drive the digital transformation of the automotive industry.

You will work with product owners data analysts and designers alongside other members of the development team to make improvements and additions to our live auction platform. We continually challenge ourselves to ensure that we keep on top of Technology ensuring we are using the right tools for the right job.

We are primarily looking for people who can demonstrate experience in the following :

• Java / Kotlin and the JVM
• Developing backend services using frameworks such as Spring Boo
• Relational database technologies such as PostgreSQL
• An understanding of good approaches to writing software
• Ability to contribute to technical discussions and collaborate with other developer

We use several other technologies where experience would be valued but is not required :

• Frontend technologies such as Typescript Angular
• Cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Messaging systems primarily Kafka
• Non-relational storage technologies such as Elasticsearch MongoDB Redis
• Data lake technologies such as Snowflake

• Working in a Product team that is driven by data and is obsessed with providing world class customer journeys.
• Full stack development working with frontend technologies such as Angular and server-side technologies such as Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Practicing CI & CD using Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes Engine making multiple releases to production each day.
• Collaborating within a cross functional Agile team to help shape our technical solutions and direction.
• Actively seek to improve both technical and non-technical aspects of the team and actively suggest ways we might improve.
• Learning and working in a lively environment constantly developing your knowledge of new and changing industry trends.
• Focusing on delivering great experiences for the end users of our applications.
• Maintaining a critical outlook and working to maintain a balance between effective delivery and technical elegance.
