Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design, prototype, and guide the delivery of solutions across multiple components that meet user needs, adhere to customer design principles, and comply with Brand Guidelines. Lead and support both technical design processes and foster a culture of good user experience, ensuring the solution remains fit for purpose, meets business and system requirements, and is successfully transitioned into business-as-usual (BAU) operations.

1. Evaluate IT system requirements: Understand, evaluate, and challenge requirements from Subject Matter Experts and Business Analysts to ensure completeness and clarity, enabling accurate system design documentation and reliable IT solution estimates.
2. Define solution options: Identify all potential options for the end-to-end solution and make reasoned recommendations to support evidence-based decisions at relevant boards.
3. Maintain design collateral: Coordinate, create, and maintain system design documentation aligned with business objectives, architectural blueprints, design principles, and Brand Guidelines, following documented design patterns, templates, standards, and governance frameworks.
4. Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, delivery teams, and outsourced providers to support problem-solving, consensus-building, and facilitate the build process.
5. Communication: Clearly communicate solutions to delivery teams and stakeholders, ensuring effective engagement throughout the process for efficient delivery.
6. Design integrity: Control and evaluate interaction and integration designs, maintaining the integrity of the end-to-end user journey throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and meet requirements.
7. Transition support: Facilitate the transition of solutions into BAU operations, assist in resolving live technical incidents and system issues in line with ITIL, ensuring continued delivery aligned with business needs.
8. Design patterns: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of design patterns, producing compliant designs to promote best practices.
9. Continuous development: Develop skills and behaviors that promote the value of the solution design function and align with the principles outlined in the Solution Design Team Charter.
10. Project delivery: Deliver short-term or one-off projects and activities as required, meeting the standards and outcomes agreed with the Line Manager.

• Extensive relevant experience in IT system design and/or software development.
• Total experience of 10+ years with at least 4+ years in relevant roles.
• Experience with UML, C4-Model (preferably at least at a conceptual level).
• Assist architects in creating ‘Solution Vision’.
• Experience with various software development methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical content clearly.
• Previous experience in financial services, insurance, investments, or pensions is advantageous.
• Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships at all levels.
• Knowledge of middle layer/API/backend system integration, databases, and ETL processes.
• Experience with AWS/Azure cloud and on-premises application hosting (at least one project).
• Knowledge of web app and infrastructure security.
• Understanding of Non-Functional Requirements.
• Front-end exposure is considered beneficial.

• Essential: An IT-related degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Desirable: Formal qualification in a technical specialty area.
