CONTRACT ENGINEERING BUYER
Job summary
A leading manufacturing firm is seeking a Contract Engineering Buyer for a 6-month contract in Wolverhampton. This role involves direct purchasing across a range of mechanical and electro-mechanical commodities. The ideal candidate will have robust purchasing experience, negotiation skills, and familiarity with SAP/MRP/ERP systems. Immediate start is available, and the position includes responsibilities such as placing orders and monitoring supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and cost reductions.
Qualifications
- Previous purchasing / procurement experience in a production / manufacturing environment.
- Broad-based direct purchasing experience covering mechanical, electro-mechanical or electrical commodities.
- Working knowledge of SAP / MRP / ERP systems.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the purchasing of shop floor items.
- Price negotiation to ensure the lowest overall cost.
- Placing purchase orders using the SAP / MRP / ERP system.
- Ensure suppliers deliver products on time.
- Monitoring supplier performance for cost reductions.

As contract Buyer, itwill be a varied Purchasing role with responsibility for direct purchasing within manufacture supporting thePurchasing Managerto procure day-to-day items across a mechanical / electro-mechanical commodity range for production, from mechanical components / assemblies including metalwork to cables, electronics, and consumables.
- Supporting the purchasing of shop floor items
- Price negotiation / ensuring the lowest overall cost of acquisition.
- Placing purchase orders for a defined range of suppliers, using the SAP / MRP / ERP system
- Ensure suppliers deliver product to agreed delivery dates.
