Job description

Unique opportunity to join one of the most innovative and dynamic independent ecological consultancies in the UK. My client’s approach to how they operate as an organisation for their clients and staff is leading them to being one of the most forward thinking and enviable organisations in this sector.

This client has grown considerably in the last 12 months in revenue and head count (now at over 70 technical staff), they are looking to add to the team with more of the industry’s brightest at senior grade.

The senior roles will suit you well if you can demonstrate at least four or five years of experience across a broad range of surveys for habitats and protected species. Ideally, you will be a Member of CIEEM. You will have a comprehensive working knowledge of planning policy, best practice, and legislative drivers for ecological consultancy. You should be unafraid to confront the status quo, troubleshoot on sticky projects and enjoy the challenge that comes with responsibility for and mentorship of junior colleagues.

Location

UK Wide – Flexible Working Arrangements Available

Ideally You Will Have the Following

My client is not just looking for any old ecologist that meets the technical competences demands of the role. They are looking for people that they’d actually enjoy working with. So, you need to be enthusiastic, disciplined, demonstrate common sense, have ruthless attention to detail and be able to make smart decisions when faced with competing priorities. Being laid back, funny, outgoing and an excellent communicator (including in writing) is pretty much essential too.

· You’ll be expected to walk the talk, so you’ll need solid field id. across a range of species and habitats.
· My client does a lot of bat work. So, a class 1 bat licence is essential. Class 2 is ideal. The ability to write EPSL and especially BMCL is highly desirable.
· You’re comfortable with the application of BNG on sites large and small.
· You have demonstrable experience of QCing/coaching/mentoring junior staff.

About this Opportunity

My client is able to provide you a highly rewarding range of projects to work on, enabling you to build on your experience and training in order to meet your true potential.

With my client being able to offer fully remote working, this role will give you significant opportunity to flex the role to enable a healthy work life balance. They have a hugely supportive team and systems, all ensuring staff feel well connected and part of the business irrespective of your location.

As well as a well above average salary, my clients benefits and perks package the industry norm. These include, unlimited training budget, 40 days paid leave, regular bonuses, private health care, gym membership, multiple company socials including fully expensed ski trip.

You will have significant input into the growth and development of the business.

Even if you are cautiously looking, I would recommend a discreet conversation to find out more about the firm and the role.
