An energy infrastructure company in the UK is seeking a Construction Health & Safety Advisor for its Eastern Green Link 2 project. This role involves providing HSE expertise to various infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with legislation, and promoting best practices in health and safety. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role and relevant certifications. The position offers a competitive salary, a company car, and several flexible benefits, with the potential for hybrid work.
As a Construction Health & Safety Advisor for Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2), you’ll help shape one of the most significant strategic energy infrastructure developments the UK has seen in recent years.
EGL2 is a 505km electricity superhighway which will enable the transfer of power from Scotland to England (and vice versa as required) via a subsea cable. The two-gigawatt, high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable is connecting Peterhead in Aberdeenshire and Drax in North Yorkshire - making it the longest electricity transmission project to be constructed in the UK!
And this is your opportunity to provide Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) expertise to Strategic Infrastructure projects including Overhead Line, Substation and Cable works. You’ll actively engage, coach, and positively influence managers, staff and our contractor partners to deliver legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement - helping to create, achieve and sustain world class HSE performance.
In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office/site and home. You’ll be flexible to travelling to sites in North Yorkshire 2-3 days per week and will require a current full UK driving licence.
A competitive salary between £54,000 - £65,000 - dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement company car, a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
National Grid Strategic Infrastructure is a Business Unit created to propel our grid forward to deliver in 5 years, what has been achieved in the previous 30. By 2030 we aim to have 17 new major infrastructure projects live across England, Scotland and Wales.
Here at National Grid, we connect homes and businesses to power, making sure supply and demand match each other. We make sure the lights are on in schools, operating theatres, and sporting arenas; we’re thousands of people working on behalf of millions of people.
Our investment in Strategic Infrastructure via The Great Grid Upgrade will mean more home-grown power, greater energy security and a cleaner future.
Whatever your role, wherever you work with us, you’ll help us hit stretching targets and achieve our far-reaching goal: to secure, clean energy that supports our world far into the future. Here, you will be at the heart of energy.
This role closes on 24 November 2025 at 23:59, however we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary. Interviews to be held week commencing 15 December.
