The National Archives is seeking an Archival Metadata Specialist to join the research project Our Heritage, Our Stories: Linking and searching community-generated digital content to develop the people's national collection, part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Towards a National Collection: Opening UK Heritage to the World (TaNC). The project collaborates with researchers in digital humanities, archives, history, linguistics, and computer science at the Universities of Glasgow and Manchester, along with digital infrastructure experts at The National Archives.
The role involves leading archival data and metadata management, maintaining comprehensive documentation of datasets and data flows, and advising on data sharing, governance, and ontology. The specialist will research Linked Data developments in cultural heritage, oversee data workflows from community content to Linked Data, and support the project's interfaces.
They will join the multidisciplinary team within the Research and Academic Engagement Department and collaborate with internal and external partners to meet project commitments.
