Position Description
ERT is seeking a Satellite Data Analyst to support the NOAA/NESDIS Satellite Analysis Branch (SAB). The successful candidate will provide scientific satellite remote sensing analysis. They will perform analysis of environmental events detected from satellite imagery and sensor data from a wide-range of NOAA and Non-NOAA (Department of Defense, NASA, and Foreign) satellites.

Analysts will work with data imagery and plots to monitor, track, and provide forecast input for events such as fires, volcanoes, oil spills, and other events for NOAA, other Governments users and the public. The work involves a thorough understanding of satellite imagery and the science that it represents. We are looking for Candidates with knowledge/experience in remote sensing, GIS, Oceanography, physical meteorology, computer programming, and/or Project Management.

Duties include:

• Provide analysis of satellite imagery, integrated with ancillary datasets, to create briefings and products that enable its users to mitigate disasters and environmental hazard
• Examine & analyze satellite imagery
• Lead and resolve computer, business, scientific, engineering, policy /compliance or system/process problems enabling system compliance
• May provide supervision to other team members

SAB operations run 24x7 and all analysts share in supporting all shifts.

Required Skills

• 4-6 years of experience in meteorology, oceanography, remote sensing science, GIS, or similar area.
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and timely
• Ability to work well independently and in a team setting
• Aptitude and desire to do daily analysis for tracking events
• Work within the team framework created by management and work with team members on assigned projects
• Must qualify to obtain a public trust clearance
• Ability to work assigned shifts
• Onsite training and certification by current staff provided

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident who has lived in the United States at least 3 out of the last 5 years and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government facilities and systems.

Education
B.S. in or equivalent experience in meteorology, oceanography, remote sensing science, GIS, or similar area

Location
Work is performed on-site at NOAA's College Park Facility in College Park, MD.

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $125,000/year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. ERT uses several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the position's scope and expected duties, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
