Role Summary

The overall purpose of this role is to support the development and delivery of Safe Sport, Judge & Teacher Education against the Sport & People Development department's strategic priorities. Collaborating on the design and development of new and inspiring learning programmes and awards. Evolving and redesign resources, delivery materials and assessment strategies, in line with strategic objectives. To apply technical knowledge of the sport to ensure high quality, accurate and innovative learning solutions in the development of new and existing Judge and Teacher education courses and resources. Main Areas of Responsibility
  • Develop a long‑term plan for judging course delivery that provides consistency and standardisation across disciplines, levels and cycles.
  • Work with key government bodies and stakeholders to develop our teacher education offer in line with current curriculum requirements across Primary and Secondary education.
  • Align teacher qualifications to any appropriate standards.
  • Work with the Coach Developers to support the appropriate training of judge and teacher education deliverers.
  • Manage the work programme and deliverables of the Learning Designers to develop new and update existing resource.
  • Work closely with the Coach Developers to ensure decisions regarding course delivery and resource creation align to already established processes within the Safe Sport & People Department.
  • Work closely with technical committees to prioritise and sign‑off on new resources and course materials.
  • Provide safeguarding, judge and teacher education support to colleagues across the organisation and projects, specifically those linked to coaching courses and/or awards.
  • Work with colleagues in Digital Production, IT, Marketing & Communications, and Performance to drive the strategy for more cost‑effective and accessible learning.
  • Work collaboratively with the Coach Developers ensuring the tutor and assessor workforce is appropriately skilled and equipped to facilitate the delivery, assessment and review of courses to a consistently high standard i.e. engaged tutors meet the standards of workforce licence.
  • Develop facilitator resources and programmes to support online delivery of assessments.
  • Work with the Coach Developers in assessing and validating applications for Accreditation of Prior Learning.
Role Requirements
  • Initiative and the ability to prioritise, organise and work with autonomy.

  • An understanding of financial budgets, transactions, expenditure etc.
  • Good understanding of learning practices and course construction.

In addition, the role holder will require an in‑depth understanding across the breadth of gymnastics, club and competition structures, and judge and teacher pathways. The role holder will need to share specialist technical knowledge about course construction, learning & design to influence and guide individuals to shape course development.

People

This role requires the holder to formally line‑manage the Learning Designers, and work with the Coach Developers to oversee colleagues, budget and project teams. To be effective in this role the holder will require a sense of teamwork and responsibility towards colleagues and the achievement of both learning and development and discipline specific development plans and targets.

Shaping Direction

This role requires the holder to be able to plan their own workload on an annual/cycle basis with a view to accommodating high volumes of work around the change of Olympic cycle for themselves and members of the resource team. Plan the schedule and logistics of resource development activities for a 12‑month‑4‑year cycle programme, feeding into the wider Sport & People Development strategy leading on the delivery of Safeguarding, Judge and Teacher courses; additionally contributing to/supporting colleagues with the delivery of new coaching courses if required. In addition, the role holder will be required to monitor the progress of existing resources and programmes; feedback; and effective resource utilisation.

Developing Solutions
  • Working with multiple external contributors who may require differing levels of support.
  • Prioritising activities/work programmes in order to deliver in a number of key areas concurrently.
  • Evaluating the content provided by SMEs for inclusion within the course offer when reviewing the effectiveness/accuracy/presentation of existing resource materials.
Decision Making

This role requires the holder to make a number of decisions in relation to their own work programme and that of the Learning Designers, making decisions that impact the effectiveness of the Safeguarding, Judge & Teacher education delivery system; including accessibility of courses, course content, viability of course development and training materials.

Communicating

This role requires the holder to demonstrate effective customer service and communication skills in order to build/maintain positive relationships with colleagues and partners; and promote/deliver a proactive resource, course and education service appropriate to the current and future needs of the sport. They will need to be an effective listener, be able to gain trust and influence decision of peers, technical experts and volunteers.
