Job description

4Recruitment Services are seeking a Young Carer Family Support Worker to work for our client's Early Intervention and Prevention team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop skills and knowledge and help provide support to the Young Carers and their families across Doncaster.

The position requires strong skills in working in partnership with parents to complete whole family assessments and plans to identify need and appropriate support with the aim of reducing needs and preventing needs escalating.

The position will involve undertaking direct work with children, young people and their families in both a one to one basis and group sessions in order to ensure that young carers are fully supported, building their confidence, independence and resilience. The Young Carers Practitioner will plan, facilitate and provide comprehensive support for young carers to minimise the negative impact of their caring role and raise awareness of the service to a wide range of organisations and services.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Produce skilled assessments of families and young carer's needs, in order to support the young carer and ensure caring needs are met.
  • Develop support plans with key agencies to meet assessed need.
  • Direct holistic casework and the delivery of weekly social groups.
  • Reduce the inappropriate caring by working with key services to ensure the adult needs are met
  • Deliver awareness raising training across children and adult services to support further identification of young carers
  • Development and delivery of the Young Carers Council
Essential Requirements
  • Good communication skills with children, young people and their families and a wide range of professionals.
  • Experience of working with computers, including with Microsoft Office and databases
  • Ability to assess, plan and review work with children and their families to a good standard within legislation and a full understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Experience of targeted interventions both individually and in group settings.
  • Enhanced DBS check
