Overview

The Waste Operative will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and sustainable environment by ensuring the effective segregation, transportation, and disposal of waste materials across the estate. This role will also support external cleaning duties and secure handling of confidential waste.

Responsibilities
  • Segregate and manage waste in line with recycling and environmental policies.
  • Transport waste safely using approved vehicles and equipment.
  • Accurately complete and maintain Health & Safety records.
  • Handle confidential waste securely, including shredding and disposal.
  • Perform external cleaning to maintain safe, presentable outdoor areas.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Complete all required training and keep records updated.
  • Report hazards, damages, or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Provide support to the wider facilities team when needed.
  • Fulfill the role on a full-time basis (40 hours per week) and be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a waste management, cleaning, or facilities role (desirable but not essential).
  • Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Follows the right procedures and challenges unsafe behaviour.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with customers and engage with team members.
  • Reliable, responsible, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
