Hours: 35 hours per week worked on a Rota Basis

Located in York, the centre can accommodate up to 40 people over two floors and has stunning views of the Knavesmire area. Brainkind Neurological Centre York is an innovative, purpose-built independent hospital providing specialist neurobehavioral assessment and post-acute rehabilitation for people with a non-progressive acquired brain injury.

  • To provide the clinical and operational leadership daily ensuring that exceptional standards of care are adhered to at all times.
  • To provide clinical leadership by acting as a positive role model, who practices evidence-based care, to ensure high standards of clinical care as well as ensuring that the people we support achieve their goals.
  • Ensure effective admission/discharge planning with People We Support care team.

Job responsibilities
  • To provide the clinical and operational leadership daily ensuring that exceptional standards of care are adhered to at all times.
  • To provide clinical leadership by acting as a positive role model, who practices evidence-based care, to ensure high standards of clinical care as well as ensuring that the people we support achieve their goals.
  • Ensure effective admission/discharge planning with People We Support care team.
  • Establish systems and processes to ensure effective communication and continuity of People We Support care liaising with inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Empower and enable staff to contribute to the delivery of high-quality person-centred care.
  • Promote and facilitate a learning culture within the ward and a culture of reflective practice for all staff.
  • Establish highest care standards to meet or exceed current standards as well as ensuring that risk management strategies are in place.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff recognise the potential for or signs of People We Support harm, abuse, and neglect, including poor clinical practice, report all such occurrences and take all responsible steps to protect the People We Support. Responsible for ensuring that all staff identify and report concerns regarding safeguarding of all those who may be at risk.
  • Take an effective role in staff management, including recruitment and retention, ensuring all staff receive the necessary training and professional development they require as well as managing rostering, holiday and sickness ensuring that the unit is always appropriately staffed.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Demonstrate experience and good knowledge of working within the Mental Health Act
  • An RMN/RNLD nursing qualification.
  • Experience of managing a ward or large staff team effectively to meet the needs of the post fully
  • The experience and ability to lead, manage and inspire a team.
  • Proven experience of managing complex and diverse care/rehabilitation services.
  • Mentorship in Practice (MIP) qualification or a willingness to undertake.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and oral and using a variety of media
