Job description

Do you have lived experience of drug and alcohol recovery?

Are you ready to give something back? Do you want to develop your skills and take on a bit of challenge?

We are looking for people with previous lived experience to become part of our building recovery in communities (BRIC) - Peer Mentor team.

It’s often overwhelming for people to make changes in their lives. You can help by giving your time as a volunteer peer mentor.

There are lots of different ways you could help support other young people and our services, this can include:

  • Being a voice for other service users, getting their feedback and sharing ideas on how to improve the service and letting us know what is and isn’t working. You can help shape how we deliver our services contributing to what we post on social media, who we recruit and the types of support we offer. You will be a positive role model promoting our service to other service users and those in the local community. Attending events and supporting the delivery of training.
  • You could also have the opportunity to be matched with a service user working alongside them on a one‑to‑one basis. This can include supporting them to attend a group or appointment or just checking in with them to see how they are getting on once they have left the service. You will be a positive influence to the mentee, motivating, encouraging, and inspiring them to reach their potential.

You will be provided with all the skills, training and regular 1.2.1 support needed to help you carry out the role. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to be a positive role model, has a passion for supporting others and wants to make a difference.
