Overview

The Best Connection Chesterfield have an exciting opportunity for a Control Tower Support Van Driver to join our client's team in the East Midlands.

Job Description

As a Control Tower Support driver it is your role to deliver wheeled plant, barriers and materials including stock checking to engineers out in the field in a timely and safe manner. The Driver will maintain an effective and compliant operation across all responsible activities and ensure adherence to all legal, operational and SHE procedures.

Please note that this role will be interfacing with internal staff and members of the public, and so experience in dealing with customers is a must. Due to the nature of this position you must also be flexible in working different shifts, including rotational standby as and when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of wheeled plant, road furniture, equipment and materials to roadside operations to support the gas network.
  • Daily stock count of materials at tertiary stores
  • Compliance of vehicle daily checks and reporting of defects
  • Ensure housekeeping and 5s is carried out at stores
  • Support role in secondary stores when required
  • Working to site & contract specific SHESQ policies and procedures
  • First point of contact for engineers in the field operations
  • Driving in a safe manner and adherence to driver KPI's
Skills & Qualifications

Behavioural

  • Drive in a safe and efficient manner
  • Knowledge and understanding of driver vehicle checking
  • Knowledge and understanding driver behaviour monitoring, such as harsh breaking, engine idling
  • Work on own initiative, proactive approach and can do attitude
  • Keeping the vehicle and cab clean

Technical

  • Hold current driving licence + ability to tow 1.5t wheeled plant on licence
  • Work within all legal parameters of driver hours, WTD legislation, being fully compliant with tachograph and break requirements
  • Pre-shift checks & fault reporting
  • Hazard reporting
  • Possibly basic maintenance going forward, Bulbs etc
