Vacancy for Application Specialist Ingest & Preservation Team at British Library

£29,000 - £35,760 a year

Can you work with a wide variety of library users to deliver changes to services? For example, upgrading our Digital Library Systems?

The British Library has a rare opportunity for an Application Specialist in our Ingest and Preservation team, based in Boston Spa (Wetherby). The current requirement is to be in the office two days a week, with the possibility of increasing this in the future.

If you work for us, you will be helping to support and develop British Library services, as well as engaging with many exciting new projects.

We will take care of you with:

  • 25 days annual leave, plus 2.5 privilege days (plus Bank Holidays)
  • Employers Pension Contribution of 26.6% - 30.3%. For example, if you contribute £1580 p.a. into your Civil Service Pension, the British Library will contribute £7859 p.a.
  • Access to training courses to support your professional development

About you:

  • Experience supporting, configuring, and monitoring third-party/packaged or bespoke applications
  • Experience with operational acceptance testing and deploying changes to production systems using appropriate controls
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team to meet customer service levels and SLAs
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical and considered approach
  • Systems analysis and documentation skills
  • Experience with data migration and file management
  • Experience supporting applications in a Windows environment
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL database querying
