Job description

At Honda we embrace inclusion in our various policies, so whilst our contracts state that the hours are as required to fulfil the role with a minimum of 35 hours per week, we offer flexibility for when you work. The regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break & 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. However, we offer flexibility of when you work with our daily flex‑time start of between 07:00 and 11:00 providing that there is no business requirement.

Whilst there is no contractual right to work from home, the flexibility we offer is that you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again providing there is no business requirement to attend the office.

Role

This role is suitable for an individual who would like to experience working in a finance department including accounting and treasury function.

The role covers the key finance tasks of reporting, analysis and budgeting for the income statement, and also providing exposure to several areas of Finance including Tax, Treasury, and Audit.

This role will also provide an overview and general understanding on several software applications being used, such as SAP, Microstrategy, WFS.

We require pro‑active, self‑motivated and flexible individuals who are able to assist delivering work to support these projects.

Main Responsibilities
Accounting
  • Work with month end routines, including file set‑up and the accurate preparation, and reconciliation of payments into accounting systems.
  • Preparation of analysis for the monthly financial reports review.
  • Balance Sheet reconciliation.
  • Prepare reconciliations to test the accuracy of the new system.
  • Assist with cost centre accounting and reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Support the Department Manager with internal and external audits.
  • Data analysis.
  • Assist in other areas of Finance, as needed.
  • Assist with ad hoc project work in the finance area, i.e. Excel training, Monthly Discussion of Finance topics.
Required
  • Must be an undergraduate, undertaking a Finance or Business related degree, looking for a placement as part of their studies.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical mind, with ability to see end to end process.
  • Ability to work with and interpret vast amounts of data and explain anomalies.
  • Highly motivated, with an enquiring mind and passion for excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work alongside other departments to resolve payment related queries.
Desirable
  • Full training will be given so experience of applications is not essential.
