Job Advert Tutor (Orrell, Wigan)

Prospero Teaching is looking for Tutors in Orrell (Wigan) to deliver Maths and English tuition across EYFSKS4. Working with Wigan Council, you’ll provide 1:1 tuition for pupils outside of mainstream school, often vulnerable learners who benefit from tailored support.

• Hours: ~10 weekly per pupil

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 tuition for pupils outside mainstream school, often vulnerable learners requiring tailored support.
• Create and deliver learning plans on a 1:1 basis.
• Adopt a therapeutic approach as needed to re-engage students with their learning.
• Help structure the pupil’s daily routine and support their educational development, with the aim of returning to an educational setting.
• Monitor progression with each pupil by submitting weekly reports (to Prospero).
• Sessions generally take place in school daytime hours with occasional opportunities after school 3-4pm and evenings. Sessions can range between 1-4 hours on a daily or weekly basis.

Further Information

The successful tutor will need to be patient and empathetic, and able to create/deliver learning plans on a 1:1 basis. A therapeutic approach may also be needed to re-engage students with their learning. The aim is to provide the pupil with structure in their daily routine and to continue their educational development, ultimately helping them return to an educational setting.
