Overview

Trust Registrar in Acute Medicine (Ealing) – 1 x Fixed Term Role

An exciting post is available for a Trust Grade Registrar to join our Acute Medical Unit at Ealing Hospital. This is a great opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful integrated care NHS Trusts in the UK, with a team of 9,000 dedicated staff. As part of the restructuring of acute medical services at Ealing, we are looking for two candidates to join our team. Acute Medicine has a dynamic and enthusiastic team of acute physicians at Ealing. The department has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in teaching and training. The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a busy 30-bedded ward, with two acute consultants based on the ward during normal working hours. Successful candidates will join our dynamic team of 5 acute consultants, and twelve acute junior doctors.

Responsibilities
  • Provide cover to the AMU and to the on-call rota, supporting consultants in AMU and providing medical leadership.
  • Participate in the Medical On-Call rota, including managing the medical take in the emergency department and providing on-call ward cover.
  • Develop experience in Acute Medicine and opportunities to develop procedural skills.
  • Contribute to the education and supervision of junior doctors and medical students attached to the unit.
  • Attend and actively participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions.
  • Engage in Clinical Audit and clinical governance activities within the Department of Acute Medicine.

Additional Information

We are a university teaching NHS trust, with a strong role in training clinicians of the future and contributing to research. The appointee will work under the supervision of AMU Consultants in care of acute general medical inpatients, may participate in the Acute Medicine Take on call and in Ambulatory Care, and will have opportunities to develop procedural skills. The appointee is expected to participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions and to assist with teaching of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
