Our Teynham site have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Supervisor to join our team on a 12 month fixed term basis.
As a Transport Supervisor you will be responsible for leading the traffic operations team and driver team in ensuring the planning of company and third party resources, managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions.
Salary: Up to 36900 per annum.
Shift: Sunday-Wednesday 7pm-7am.
Key Duties of a Transport Supervisor
- Ensure that colleagues under your responsibility work within a safe environment and that the transport operation and its drivers operate within current transport related regulations.
- Manage driver performance and behaviours using available technology and tools focusing on drivers hours infringements, driving style and driver compliance such as vehicle checks etc.
- Plan and control equipment and resource to ensure customer service level targets are met and exceeded.
- Plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles and agency drivers.
- Ensure that all elements of the job are communicated effectively to the Transport team and drivers.
- Liaise with customers regarding present or future concerns that may impact agreed service levels.
- Undertake additional tasks/duties as may be required by management.
- Maintain department discipline including time keeping, conduct and performance with the support of HR and utilising the company disciplinary policy and procedures where appropriate and escalating issues when necessary.
- Identify the training and development needs for departmental colleagues and coach/organise/oversee solutions using own knowledge and company training tools.
- Support and if necessary deputise the Transport Manager in meetings or customer reviews.
- Close liaison with fellow team members and management to discuss efficiencies and agreed operational practices.
Qualifications
- Experience of fleet maintenance.
- Knowledge and experience of FMCG environment.
- Current CPC would be advantageous.
- Experience of vehicle servicing and maintenance within a similar environment.
- Good knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
- Thoroughness/attention to detail.
- Able to work effectively in a team.
- Good communication skills.
