Transport Manager – PGP

Location : Derby, with responsibility for Derby and Leeds depots

We’re looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead daily operations across our Derby and Leeds sites. You’ll ensure safe, compliant, and efficient transport activity while maintaining high standards of service and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day transport operations across multiple depots, ensuring safety, compliance, and service quality.
  • Act as the named Transport Manager for the Operator Licence, maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Serve as Site Responsible Person for Derby, ensuring safe site management and maintenance.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture and lead initiatives that promote risk awareness and prevention.
  • Manage, support, and develop operational teams, promoting inclusion, respect, and accountability.
  • Control budgets, resources, and performance through data‑led decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, and Customer Service teams to align transport activities with wider business goals.
Key Skills
  • CPC in Transport Management (or willingness to achieve with support).
  • Proven experience managing transport operations, ideally across multiple sites.
  • Strong understanding of SHEQ principles and operational risk management.
  • Experience with budgeting, KPIs, and performance management.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience in unionised environments.
  • NEBOSH and ADR qualifications desirable.
  • Knowledge of industrial, manufacturing, or logistics sectors is advantageous but not essential.
  • A collaborative, safety-driven, and inclusive leadership style.
