Therapy Assistant

Do you want a job that will make a difference? If this sounds like you, Hampshire CAMHS Learning Disability/Autism Team are seeking a Therapy Assistant to join our Multi-Disciplinary Team.

You will be joining a friendly, supportive, and creative multi-disciplinary team which currently includes Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist and admin. The team provides assessment and intervention for young people who have a moderate to severe learning disability, who also experience mental health difficulties, emotional distress / dysregulation, and/or people who present with behaviours that challenge. The LD/A team uses the model of Positive Behaviour Support.

This post will work across Hampshire under our experienced therapist.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Therapy Assistant to support the Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) and Occupational Therapist (OT). The successful candidate will be proficient and knowledgeable in carrying out duties delegated to them by the registered professionals to include undertaking assessment, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans, and creating accessible resources. The Therapy Assistant will be expected to utilise practical and theoretical knowledge, maintain excellent therapeutic/professional relationships regarding all aspects of care, demonstrate a variety of communication skills in accordance with service user needs.

The successful candidate will also support some of our lead practitioner with bespoke pieces of work that will benefit young people and their families. This could include role modelling intervention, supporting with the development of coping plans or helping the implementation of agreed care plans such as exposure work.

The post holder will receive both clinical and managerial supervision, and training as required to meet the needs of the role.
