Job summary

A housing support organization in Slough is looking for a Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer to ensure that temporary accommodations are suitable and safe. The role includes conducting regular property visits, assessing health and safety, and engaging with residents. Opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer to ensure households in temporary accommodation are safe, suitable, and supported. The role involves conducting regular property visits, assessing accommodation against statutory standards, engaging sensitively with residents, and supporting improvements where needed. You will also help prevent and detect housing‑related fraud and work collaboratively with internal teams and accommodation providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular visits to temporary accommodation, including bed and breakfast and nightly paid placements.
  • Carry out suitability assessments and identify health, safety, and management concerns.
  • Engage with residents, supporting wellbeing, mental health, and family needs.
  • Identify safeguarding issues and make appropriate referrals.
  • Verify occupancy, prevent, and report potential housing fraud.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
