Job Title: Temporary Kitchen Washer

My client is looking for someone to help in a busy school kitchen.

DBS required

Location: School Kitchen / Catering Department

Reports to: Kitchen Supervisor / Catering Manager

Contract Type: Temporary / Casual 15th-18th Dec

Hours: 7am -2.30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, trays, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using manual and/or automatic washing methods.
• Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, sinks, and drying stations.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling following school policies.
• Assist with basic kitchen cleaning tasks such as wiping work surfaces, sweeping, and mopping floors.
• Operate dish‑washing machinery safely and report any malfunctions.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times (e.g., correct use of PPE, hand‑washing, avoiding cross‑contamination).
• Support the catering team during busy periods, including setting up and clearing down as required.
• Adhere to safeguarding and health & safety policies in an environment with children present.

Person Specification

• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• DBS required.
• Good communication skills and ability to take instruction.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Awareness of basic hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Physically capable of standing for long periods and handling modest lifting tasks.
