About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) to join our supportive team in Preston, Lancashire. This is a crucial role focused on providing high-quality, inclusive education to students with a wide range of learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored lessons, creating a nurturing classroom environment, and working collaboratively with teaching assistants and pastoral staff. This role requires a passionate individual with a deep understanding of different learning difficulties and a commitment to making a tangible difference in student\'s lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons to students with special educational needs.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies and interventions to support individual learning plans (ILPs).
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff to foster an inclusive school environment.
  • Manage a small group of students or provide in-class support in mainstream lessons.
  • Promote a positive and encouraging atmosphere where students feel safe to learn and grow.
What We're Looking For
  • Desirable Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but not essential.
  • Essential Experience: Proven experience as a Teacher of SEND, working with secondary school-aged students.
  • A strong understanding of a variety of special educational needs, including but not limited to, dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and ADHD.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of special education.
