Job description

We are currently partnered with a friendly, privately owned civil and structural engineering consultancy as they look to add a Structural Engineer to their team in Maidstone, Kent.

The consultancy's project spectrum is diverse, encompassing the intricate planning and development of small domestic extensions and robust retaining walls, the delicate refurbishment of historic buildings, as well as orchestrating expansive residential and commercial developments that command multi-million-pound investments.

With a keen eye for precision, the consultancy excels in structural and civil engineering, specialising in meticulous structural surveys of existing properties. Our expertise is particularly profound when it comes to the nuanced demands of historic and listed buildings.

Their team of approximately 20 consultant engineers embodies commitment and expertise. They ensure a hands-on approach, maintaining a close and collaborative involvement with clients and fellow professionals throughout every project phase.

Their engineers have undertaken design work on a huge variety of schemes including minor works to existing domestic properties, renovation of listed buildings and large scale residential, education and commercial developments.

We are able to offer the following services:

1. Structural assessments and reporting, including fire damaged structures.
2. Undertake detailed design of sub-structures such as foundations, retaining walls and basements.
3. Undertake detailed design of superstructures such as structural concrete, steelwork, timber and masonry.
4. Computer analysis of designs using specialist software such as Tekla Structural Designer Suite, Tekla Tedds, IDEA StatiCa, Scale.
5. BIM integration (REVIT)
6. Production of detailed construction drawings and details.
7. Specialist knowledge regarding historic buildings to work with conservation officers for the sympathetic renovation of listed structures.
8. Construction site support.
9. Liaise with local authorities and other third parties to resolve issues and discharge planning conditions etc.
10. Providing Structural Reports to Support Planning Applications for change of use.
11. Assisting Local Authority Building Control Departments & Independent Inspectors with checking Building Control Submissions for compliance with Part A (Structures) of The Building Regulations.
12. Temporary Works Design.
