About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and shape our strategic housing remit, and future-proof our statutory housing services to help deliver our Corporate Priorities, in particular “A thriving economy and homes for all”. We are creating a single, focused and better-resourced Housing Team and seek your leadership to establish and embed the Team while delivering high quality services for our residents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive housing growth, including social rented and affordable housing, leveraging regeneration opportunities in the borough (Old Trafford Regeneration, Carrington / Davenport Green Strategic Sites, Civic Quarter AAP, and town centres).
  • Collaborate with the private sector, RP’s, GMCA, Homes England and MHCLG to deliver the types and mix of homes to meet current and future resident needs.
  • Set and deliver the strategic and policy framework for housing, including homelessness.
  • Overall responsibility for homelessness prevention and reduction, housing options, rough sleepers and asylum and migration service provision.
  • Lead and embed the Housing Team with support from the Senior Housing Services Manager focused on operational delivery.

Trafford is a great place to live and work with excellent transport links, growing town centres and major venues. We offer a living wage employer environment with opportunities to grow within a values-based organisation.

About you

If you have completed the GM Elevate Leadership Development Programme within the last 2 years, please indicate this within the ‘About You’ or ‘Supporting Statement’ section of your application.

You will be an experienced housing professional with a commitment to service improvement and the effective operation and coordination of Local Authority statutory housing functions.
