Job description
Overview

We are looking for motivated individuals to join and expand our enthusiastic and friendly team of Doctors at the West Cornwall Hospital Urgent Treatment Centre in Penzance. The thriving tourism industry ensures we see over 20,000 patients per annum with a varied case mix and a proportion of trauma. Doctors interested in pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine will find these posts offer invaluable experience in a beautiful part of the country. Contracts will be based on a ten session Specialty Doctor contract, of which one session will be for supporting professional activities. The posts include annual and study leave.

Responsibilities
  • To work alongside nursing colleagues within the Urgent Treatment Centre to manage patients either self-presenting or via ambulance. Senior advice and support is available 24 hours a day from the duty consultant/middle grade at the RCH Emergency Department.
  • Become involved in the teaching and development of doctors, nurses and professionals from other disciplines such as Emergency Care Practitioners, undergraduate students and GP registrars.
  • Identify gaps in patient pathways and report these back to the Urgent Treatment Centre Specialty Lead.
  • Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of the Urgent Treatment Centre.
  • Share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Urgent Treatment Centre.
