Job description
Overview

We are a busy department with a wide-ranging repertoire of diagnostic testing and currently process approximately 350,000 tests per year. A comprehensive knowledge of Microbiology is required. You would be joining a friendly and dedicated team of scientists working within Pathology.

Responsibilities and expectations
  • Participate in a shift-working pattern, including weekend and Bank Holiday working. The service operates 7 days a week and will require working 1 Saturday in 4.
  • Take part in the Service On call rota covering 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
  • Utilise equipment including Vitek2, BacT/Alert (TB & blood culture systems), Sysmex UF5000 Urine analyser, two Hologic Panthers and two Diasorin Liaison XL machines.
  • Demonstrate sound general bacteriology knowledge from a UK NHS or Private laboratory.
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development, including the IBMS CPD scheme.
Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • IBMS specialist portfolio in Microbiology or demonstrational Microbiology experience.
