Social Worker (Children's) - Mid & East Devon – Contract Position

Are you a dedicated Social Worker with experience supporting disabled children and proven expertise in child protection and care cases? We are seeking a qualified and motivated Social Workerto join our team in Mid & East Devon on a 14‑week contract basis. This role provides an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within children's services while benefiting from flexible hybrid working arrangements.

About the Role

As a Social Worker, your primary responsibility will be supporting disabled children and their families within the community. You will work closely with children in care, those subject to child protection plans, and children with disabilities, ensuring their safety and well‑being. The role involves a blend of office‑based work and visiting children in their homes across the Devon area, which is predominantly rural, requiring reliable access to a suitable vehicle. The role offers a pay rate of up to £38 per hour depending on experience LTD holiday included or £29.76 PAYE exclusive of holiday pay (DOE).

This position requires working 37 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, with hybrid flexibility—attending the office in Tiverton on duty days and conducting visits to children's homes across Devon. Travel is a significant part of the role, and candidates must have their own transport, in compliance with the Equality Act 2010.

Candidate Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and support planning for children in care and disabled children
  • Manage a caseload of CIN/CP and disability cases, ensuring statutory requirements are met
  • Attend home visits, meetings, and review hearings across the Devon area
  • Collaborate effectively with partner agencies and families to promote positive outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case records and documentation
  • Participate actively in team meetings and supervision sessions
  • Ensure compliance with social work policies and safeguarding procedures
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years post‑qualifying experience (PQE)
  • Social Work England registration
  • Experience in CIN, CP, or children with disabilities cases
  • Access to a valid UK driving licence and own transport
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting (minimum 1‑2 days in the office, flexible to service needs)
