Job description

Highways Site / Project Manager – Cycleway Scheme, Halifax

Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire

Contract Duration: 18 months

Project Value: Up to £10 million

Rates: £350.00 - £450.00 per shift CIS or LTD

We’re seeking an experienced Highways Site / Project Manager to take the lead on a major cycleway infrastructure scheme in Halifax. This flagship project – valued at up to £10m – will deliver significant improvements to sustainable transport routes across the region, enhancing safety, accessibility, and connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Role

As the Site / Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for the successful delivery of the scheme from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring all works are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You’ll oversee all on-site operations, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, and maintain strong relationships with the client, local authorities, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of site delivery and project coordination.
  • Lead on health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and monitor programmes of work and resource planning.
  • Oversee cost control, risk management, and reporting.
  • Liaise with design teams, utilities, and local stakeholders to minimise disruption.
  • Drive delivery of sustainable, high-quality construction outcomes.
About You
  • Proven experience managing highways, civil engineering, or active travel schemes (ideally £5m–£10m+ in value).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations and site safety practices.
  • Experience working with local authorities or public sector clients.
  • HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications.
