We are recruiting a Service Technician to join our team based out of the Coventry Office, covering the Midlands & South Wales region (including the South Wales area). The successful candidate will perform planned preventative maintenance on lift/escalator equipment, complete Schindler safety inspections, and close any non-conformities to current legislation or standards. They will oversee improvements to equipment condition to reduce call-backs and downtime, perform minor repairs and lifecycle replacement of components, and provide coverage on an on‑call rota for out‑of‑hours maintenance and repairs. This is a permanent, full‑time role.

What you'll be doing
  • Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+).
  • Rectifying faults on lift/escalator equipment during breakdowns and verifying correct functioning.
  • Checking lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, including speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved tooling and PPE.
  • Carrying out routine inspection and adjustment of lifts/escalators in accordance with approved procedures; reinstating equipment and completing service documentation.
  • Performing more advanced fault finding and diagnostics using manuals and test equipment to restore equipment to service; using written/graphical information effectively.
  • Carrying out site surveys and attending relevant training to stay up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
  • Working in accordance with the Company’s Safety and Environmental policies to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler safety requirements; setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Contributing to the Company safety objectives by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems and implementing changes to the safety management system where applicable.
What we're looking for
  • Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi‑brand equipment.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines and within efficiencies.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Good communication skills at different levels (client/service leader/inspectors).
  • Manual dexterity; ability to handle repetitive lifting and use hand/power tools and record information.
  • Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good administration skills and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving license.
