Qualifications

  • Support improvements to processes and reporting standards.

Overview

Cobalt are working with a highly regarded property company to source a Service Charge Accountant to join their commercial property management team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role involves managing the preparation, reconciliation, and reporting of service charge accounts across a portfolio of high-profile commercial assets. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced environment, offering exposure to large office and retail developments while working closely with property and asset managers.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and finalise service charge accounts in line with lease terms and best practice
  • Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting for multi-let commercial properties
  • Reconcile expenditure, analyse variances, and provide clear reporting to stakeholders
  • Liaise with Property Managers, Facilities teams, and auditors to ensure accurate year-end delivery
  • Support improvements to processes, systems, and reporting standards
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and RICS Service Charge Code
Skills & Experience
  • Solid experience in service charge accounting within commercial property
  • Knowledge of service charge best practice and statutory requirements
  • Proficiency with property management/accounting systems (QUBE, Yardi, or similar)
  • Strong technical accounting and reconciliation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  • Effective communicator, able to work confidently with stakeholders and occupiers
