A public service organization in Northern Ireland seeks a Senior Youth Worker to manage youth work programmes in the local community. The ideal candidate must possess youth work qualifications and experience in program management, with a focus on supporting young people impacted by violence. JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Senior Youth Worker 1 (Specialism). The Senior Youth Worker will be responsible for the development of a specialist area of youth work based in the Emergency Department of Craigavon Hospital. The worker will develop a range of services and approaches to engage with and support young people who are the victims and/or perpetrators of violence who present to the ED. Develop effective interventions tailored for each young person participating in the programme and devise follow-up opportunities for engagement with the young people.
REPORTS TO: Senior Youth Worker 2/Senior Youth Worker 3 or Designated Youth Officer. RESPONSIBLE FOR: Line management responsibility for up to 3 FTE and/or substantial support to a range of groups.
The Senior Youth Worker 1 (Specialism) will have responsibility for the management of youth work programmes across the designated area, in line with Education Authority policies. This will include the development of youth work initiatives with young people and other agencies in a designated area.
This job description will be subject to review in light of changing circumstances and is not intended to be rigid and inflexible but should be regarded as providing guidelines within which the individual works. Other duties of a similar nature and appropriate to the grade may be assigned from time to time.
