Job summary

A dedicated support services organization in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking a Senior Support Worker to provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Qualifications

  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs is required.
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
  • Willingness to engage in full training and work towards QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care.

Job description

Do you have the commitment and positive values to make a difference to the lives of people living in our Oaklea House supported living service in Barrow in Furness?
Our Supported Living Service in Barrow provides person-centred support to adults who have learning disabilities, some of whom are on the autistic spectrum and have mental health needs.

Senior Support Worker duties
  • Supervising, managing and mentoring a team of staff
  • Developing and sustaining warm and trusting relationships with service users
  • Encouraging service users to engage in a range of exciting social activities, both within and outside of their homes
  • Providing personal care, administering medication and lone working
  • Working full time hours (37.5) on a rota basis, covering 7 days per week, including sleep over shifts
  • Overseeing staff deployment and rotas and working flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
  • Working closely with local multi-disciplinary teams and community based agencies to provide holistic, wrap‑around support
  • Facilitating service user engagement, involvement and peer support
  • Ensuring robust methods of quality monitoring
  • Being part of the local on‑call team

You will provide excellent customer care and proactively communicate with stakeholders in respect to risk management and the care and welfare of the people we support. You will have a strong ethical duty of care and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

As this is a senior role, experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs is required.
