Job summary

A leading equipment rental company in Grays is seeking a Workshop Support Technician to assist in daily operations. You will support servicing and maintenance of hire equipment while ensuring high standards of customer service. The ideal candidate will have NVQ level 3 in engineering and experience in the Powered Access or construction plant industry. The role emphasizes safety and quality assurance, offering an engaging work environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the Powered Access industry or other construction plant hire.
• Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a maintenance/engineering discipline.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems is desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Location Service Manager in day-to-day workshop operations.
• Ensure coverage for servicing and maintenance of the equipment fleet.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections of machines.
• Produce monthly plant inspection reports.
• Maintain the appearance of the fleet to corporate standards.

• Assisting the Location Service Manager in the smooth day-to-day running of this busy workshop.
• Ensure 100% coverage for the servicing and maintenance of our modern hire fleet.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of each machine is carried out at depot or on site as required.
• Produce monthly plant inspection reports and service schedule and organise workload of engineers to ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies.
• Maintain the appearance of the fleet to corporate standard
• Offer guidance and support in response to customer breakdown calls.
• Locate spares required, ensuring that CE rating, where applicable is not compromised.
• Follow the guidelines set out in the Quality and Health and Safety policy.
• Maintain basic stock control system for the workshop spares.
• Identify training and development needs of workshop personnel.
• Support depot engineers with technical help and advice.

About you: -

Previous experience in Powered Access industry or other construction plant hire.
• Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a maintenance/engineering discipline.
• The ability to prioritise and work well under pressure.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems is desired.
• Good interpersonal skills and an understanding of the importance or excellent customer service.
