Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location : Manchester, NW UK

Salary : £60,000 to £75,000 + car & package

A main contractor with a strong track record in complex structures across infrastructure and building is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a secured highways project in the North West. The contract spans two years and involves delivery of multiple structures on a major highways programme, making this a commercially significant role in the North West.

Role Overview

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will act as commercial lead on site, managing day-to-day commercial activity and mentoring a small team. Working closely with project leadership, you will ensure robust cost control, accurate reporting, and effective contract management throughout the programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial management of a package of highways structures
  • Oversee change control, valuations, cost forecasting, and final accounts
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual and commercial requirements
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management
  • Mentor and develop junior commercial staff
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large infrastructure or building projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract management, ideally NEC
  • Demonstrated experience in highways or civil engineering structures (highly desirable)
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing and developing a team
