Senior Pharmacy Technician – Procurement and Distribution

Are you a forward‑thinking and conscientious pharmacy technician who is ready to take the next step in your career? In this role, you will have responsibility for the successful delivery of a high‑quality procurement and distribution service via service development projects. Our patients are our highest priority so we welcome innovative ideas for pharmacy practices.

You will be expected to work with the multidisciplinary teams across ABUHB to ensure a high‑quality pharmacy service is delivered and so excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

This post may be offered under Annex 21 of the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service. Annex 21 applies where a candidate does not yet meet the full requirements of the role but can be appointed as a trainee and offered a structured training programme to allow development to the required standard. During the training period, salary will be paid as a percentage of the fully qualified rate in accordance with Annex 21 provisions. Upon successful completion of training and attainment of required competencies, the post holder will move to the appropriate spine point of the full pay band for the role.

Main duties of the job
  • To lead, organise and manage the pharmacy procurement and distribution services to wards and departments serviced by GUH.
  • To manage staff at GUH including taking responsibility for appraisal, sickness absence management, recruitment and selection and undertaking performance reviews.
  • Provide specialist support on the pharmacy computer, Robotic dispensing system and Omnicell systems, ensuring the accuracy, functionality and security of the system.
  • To support the Pharmacy ABUHB Education and Training team in delivering training programmes within the Pharmacy department at GUH.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
