Overview

Senior Mental Health Nurse required to join the Mental Health Team at HMP Garth. HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 male inmates and is a category B prison located in Lancashire. The nurse will be based within the healthcare department and will also be required to work on the prison wings.

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 8am - 4pm
Salary

This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary of between £42,094 - £47,466 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of patients’ mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to nursing strategy and vision; provide outstanding evidence-based care, seek and act on feedback to ensure care is personalised and informed by what matters to patients.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries.
  • Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following policies and procedures with safeguarding consideration.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • UK registration (current)
Desirable
  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - HCPC/NMC Registered
  • Experience in hospital, community or prison environments
