Applications are invited for the posts of Senior Clinical Fellow in General Medicine at Swansea Bay University Health Board. These posts are for 12 months from 6 August 2025 to 4 August 2026.

The posts will be based at Singleton or Morriston hospital.

Main duties of the job

The department of Medicine at Swansea Bay UHB are looking to recruit to several Senior Clinical Fellow posts with training in one of the following sub-specialties:

  • Cardiology
  • Respiratory Medicine
  • Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Acute Medicine
  • Care of the Elderly
  • Stroke Medicine
  • Renal
  • Haematology
  • Palliative Care
  • Rheumatology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Neurology

These posts are on a fixed term basis for 12 months due to funding.

You will participate in general medical on-calls on the appropriate on-call rota in Singleton/Morriston hospital. Further details can be provided at interview or on request.

You will be required to participate in a full shift pattern with prospective cover.

Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. Essential

  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practise

  • Valid Certified Basic Life Support Skills (or equivalent international qualification)

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent) in General Internal Medicine
  • Knowledge and participation in CPD
  • Clinical skills required of a middle grade doctor
  • Experience of dealing with unselected medical emergency admissions

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)

  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice
  • Comprehension of core philosophy and building blocks of Clinical Governance

  • Research - Experience and knowledge of critical appraisal of evidence
  • Teaching - Willingness to teach medical undergraduates and postgraduates
