Overview

We are looking for an open minded, self-motivated, and business savvy Senior Casualty Treaty Underwriter to join our Treaty underwriting team in London.

Responsibilities
  • Assess complex treaties from both a quantitative and a qualitative perspective and deliver business insights based on formal, quantitative analyses.
  • Develop actuarial costings based on data available and combining this with external factors and trends.
  • Proactively source new reinsurance opportunities and optimize existing programs.
  • Understand clients' needs, motivations, and priorities as well as risk and capital drivers and align with company´s strengths in order to develop win-win solutions, using the full range of Swiss Re capabilities. Take underwriting decisions in line with guidelines and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of holistic client strategies and action plans. Build and maintain client and broker as well as internal relationships through engagement.
  • Stay ahead: anticipate and analyze future industry/economic/legal trends and contribute to (re)insurance product development as well as overall Swiss Re\'s Casualty positioning.
About the Team

We are part of SR´s Reinsurance Casualty Treaty Underwriting unit working closely with our other underwriting units, transactions team and various other business functions. We are a multi-national team of around 22 operating out of London, Luxembourg, Milan, Munich, Paris and Zurich with a wide variety of cultural and professional backgrounds.

Our work ranges from underwriting and pricing specific reinsurance transactions to managing the overall Casualty portfolio as well as shaping SR\'s reinsurance market positioning on Casualty lines.

  • At least 7 years, ideally over 10 years of experience in Casualty treaty underwriting preferably in the London Market.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Financial knowledge, academic or practical knowledge of concepts of law would be a plus.
  • Numeric Degree preferred or equivalent experience level.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills in English as a first language or equivalent proficiency level.
