A leading care provider is seeking a Senior Care Assistant in Huddersfield. This full-time role involves leading a team to maintain high standards of care, creating personalised care plans, and ensuring the well-being of residents, particularly those with dementia. Candidates should have a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care and demonstrate excellent communication skills. You’ll demonstrate kindness in all interactions, including guiding someone how to use a walking frame, helping someone at the end of life to eat a meal, or talking to a resident’s family on the phone.

This is a full-time role working 33 hours from 8am - 8pm and 8pm - 8am. Full flexibility to work both days and nights is required. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will: lead a team of Care Assistants; maintain the highest standards of care; deliver personalised care plans; assist the Registered Nurse and Care Manager; provide physical and mental stimulation through social and recreational activities; and administer medication. You will maintain accurate records and build strong team relationships. Ideally, you’ll have completed a Level 2 Diploma NVQ in Adult Social Care and be prepared to work towards Level 3, or equivalent, with a background in person-centred care planning and knowledge of caring for people with dementia. You should have brimming positive energy and a natural ability to get along with people, good record-keeping, and time-management skills. You will communicate with residents and co-workers with consideration and kindness.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility in adult social care. You should recognise signs of possible abuse, harm or neglect and know what to do if there are concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and undertake additional training in associated areas. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.
We expect: Level 2 Diploma NVQ or equivalent in Health & Social Care (desirable but not essential); Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (desirable but not essential); experience in person-centred care planning and caring for people with dementia. The role values positive energy, team orientation, and strong communication and record-keeping abilities.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a DBS disclosure will be required to check for any prior convictions.
