About the role

Our client, a well‑regarded primary school located in the vibrant city of Chelmsford, Essex, is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Part‑time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional support to pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the individualised attention and guidance necessary to thrive in their learning environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to develop and deliver differentiated lesson plans and resources that align with pupils’ individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to pupils with SEN, adapting teaching methods and materials to ensure accessibility and understanding.
  • Monitor and assess pupils’ progress, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the evaluation and review of IEPs.
  • Assist pupils with personal care needs, such as toileting and hygiene, when necessary.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies and support pupils in developing social and emotional skills.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil’s development and well‑being.
Qualifications and attributes
  • A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant field, such as childcare, education, or special needs support.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN in an educational setting.
